Sunday 17 January 1988

I was on the button with my sports reporting in this diary and that’s for sure.  Apparently, it turned out to be a Lowe versus Anderson darts final.  Bob Anderson, the Limestone Cowboy (on account of his West Country origins) won by a score of 6-4.  John Lowe, the defending champion lost in a similarly topsy-turvy final to the previous year’s (in which he defeated Eric Bristow).  And that was that.  There were definite signs of the end of winter with those days drawing out, slowly getting longer.  Spring and summer were still a long way off mind.
