Today was my first time at Anfield with a new friend.

I had been introduced to A******* by A*** (my bathroom sharing and Man Utd supporting neighbour in halls).  A******* had a season ticket for the Kop, but suggested that we should arrive at the ground by twelve (for a three o’clock kick off).  Now I can’t properly remember why this was, but I think that he was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to get in if we left it too late.  I’d not had an issue when I went a fortnight earlier with Ed and H, but no matter, I went along with his decision and a friendship was struck between the conscientious Northern Irishman and the slightly more flaky son of Shropshire.

We were rewarded with a much better Liverpool performance than of late as Middlesbrough were dispatched by a comfortable 3-0 margin.  Ian Rush had settled nerves / opened the scoring in the 44th minute at the Kop end.

And I think that I have managed to get to the end of this entry without a mention of fireworksssssssssssssssssssss… Ach! So close…
