May Day Bank Holiday.
What better thing to do than take a trip to Stoke City’s Victoria ground for a local derby? (rhetorical – there is no better thing to do, or at least there was no better thing to do on this May Day Bank Holiday…)
Anyway, with the relative goal differences as they were, Town needed just a point to avoid relegation at Sheffield United’s expense. They managed just that to condemn the Blades to the third division along with Reading and Huddersfield Town.
